Each year the marketing department gets together to address promotions for the coming calendar year. We do this during the fall months for bigger events and throughout the year for ongoing items. Our brainstorming sessions can be quite lively as we bring to the table ways to promote our credit unions to the community they serve. The promotion running this month to benefit the Special Olympics of NY, was an idea to combine the power of the credit union’s ability to serve the community, with a charity as the benefactor. Our Long Island credit unions have a large and active membership, any charity could use this type of exposure.

After the decision was made to move forward, the team at GrooveCar went about researching charities that would be a good fit. Once we decided on the Special Olympics of NY, we had to figure out the best path to raise money and how some of our credit union partners could assist with this.

We know all our partners are amazing and give back to the community as part of their mission. It was hard to pick just one, but for this promotion with the Special Olympics NY, a perfect fit was found with Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union, (NEFCU), headquartered in Westbury. In addition to NEFCU, Novak Motors NY, a Fusion company like GrooveCar, also wanted to participate. It was decided that the best way to raise awareness and funds for our charity would be to have the charity receive $100 for every vehicle financed during April, courtesy of NEFCU. Novak would also donate $100 for every member-sale made during April on all pre-owned inventory.

The event kicked off on April 1stand will run the entire month. Novak Motors will be hosting an autograph signing event for the athletes on April 28thfrom 1 PM to 4 PM, at their location 215 Daniel Street, Farmingdale, NY. All are invited to attend.

In addition to our charity event, during the month of April, as GrooveCar continues to kick-off the spring vehicle buying season with credit unions, their members and preferred dealers, our annual April Auto Sales Event starts on the 20th. Credit unions in this region and their members nearly a million strong, will be able to purchase a new vehicle for $4 over invoice pricing or $400 off pre-owned vehicles at participating dealerships. Each credit union’s promotion page, located on the auto buying resource has the coupon and instructions for use. This is an event that so many members wait for each year.

Participating credit unions include: Teachers FCU, Island, Nassau Financial, ABE FCU, People’s Alliance, Ocean Financial, Bay Ridge FCU, Winthrop University Hospital Employees FCU.

There are great things happening at GrooveCar, look for more charitable collaborations this year as we work together to serve members of our community.
