As I prepare for CUNA’s GAC in Washington, D.C., I do so with a great deal of excitement as the anticipation of seeing old friends and meeting new ones builds. The GAC is always busy and our booth is no exception. It’s a very comfortable booth that draws a lot of attention…a picture of a giant orange Porsche is the backdrop. You can’t miss us. This year, as with other previous events, I invite credit unions to come to our booth and learn first-hand how the online platform, and other programs we have introduced, can benefit to your growth strategy in 2017.

What I love about GAC, is my conversations with credit unions who are looking to grow their auto loan portfolios. There are so many opportunities for credit unions to be successful at this in 2017. Recent research by the Annie E. Casey Foundation found 88% of Americans drive to work as two-thirds of jobs are in the suburbs where public transportation is not readily available. Having access to a car is crucial to the economic prosperity of American households. Car loans are the bread and butter of a credit union’s lending product offering, providing access through you to acquire what they need, will increase auto loan sales. There are many challenges credit unions face in 2017 from growing member relationships, hiring and training staff to meeting growth initiatives. However, one of them should not be providing access to information on vehicles for members.
